Creating New Solid Parts

In this Task

  • The inner part, referred to as Part 3 will be moved to a new position in the editor.
  • Both parts will be extruded. and

Associated Tasks

  • Extrude Solid using Midplane Extrusion.
  • Create Hole.

Before you Start

  • The view is set to Isometric.
  • Zoom into the larger cylindrical end of the part.

Take Note

  • Hold down the SHIFT key when selecting multiple objects. Use the SHIFT key to add or remove from the selection.
  • Extrusion is still set to Midplane.

Translate

Modify | Translate
Objects which are transformed or translated are manipulated or modified.
When an object or group of objects is transformed or translated, it is moved to another position in the editor.
A copy of a an object or group of objects can be obtained by hold down the ALT keyboard key during the move process.

Move the inner part shown below as part 3 to another position in the editor.

Extrude Solid

Modify | Draw | Solid from Curves | Extrude Solid
A closed profile can be extruded by providing a midplane extrusion.

Set the view to Isometric, then use the Extrude Solid tool to extrude part 2 to a total height of 40, shown below. The extrusion of both parts will be a Midplane extrusion.

In the example below, the part color has been changed to TC Blue, then viewed in Transparency mode.

When selecting the objects, use a window to select all the objects.

Use the Extrude Solid tool to extrude Part 3 to a total height of 32. Again, use a window to select all the circles of Part 3. The result is shown below.

Hole Feature

Modify | Solid Feature | Hole Feature
This tool allows the creation of a predefined hole which automatically subtracts the hole material from a solid.
This tool is useful for creating a hollow extrusion through a solid by penetrating the depth of the solid.

Select the Hole tool or use Modify > Solid Feature > Hole Feature. Place a hole on the top face of Part 2 using a diameter of 44 and depth of 40. Make sure the correct center of the top face is selected when creating the hole, shown below.
