Concentric Circles & Arcs

In this Task

  • A series of concentric circles will be drawn in the editor.
  • An arc will be drawn to a specific radius and arc length.

Associated Tasks

  • Setting an alignment angle to force the cursor to track at specific angles.

Before you Start

Take Note

  • Preferences such as alignment angles are fixed settings and are retained from drawing to drawing. To access the Preferences menu, use the TurboCAD Mac menu in the upper left corner of the editor.

 

Circles and Arcs

Center Point Circle

Draw | Circle | Center Point Circle
This circle tool draws a single circle by defining the center point and diameter.
The diameter can either be defined by selecting a point in the graphics editor, or by inputting a value into the Diameter field.
The diameter of the circle can be changed after insertion by changing the value in the Diameter edit field.

Select the Center Point Circle tool from the toolbar or use Draw > Circle > Center Point Circle.

Select a point in the center of the editor, drag the cursor slightly outwards, then use the keyboard TAB key to access the Diameter field. Input a value of 80.

Position the next circle in the center of the first circle and left click only when the center snap is displayed, shown below.

Drag the cursor outwards, then TAB to the Diameter field and input 100.

Repeat this, inputting another circle with a diameters of 120 so that the result is similar to the illustration below.

Center Point Arc

Draw | Arc | Center Point Arc
This sketch tool draws an arc by defining the center, the radius and the start/total angle.
The start and end point of the arc can be defined by the pointing device.

Select the Center Point Arc tool from the toolbar or use Draw > Arc > Center Point Arc.

Position the cursor in the center of any of the concentric circles and left click when the center snap is found, shown below.

Drag the cursor outwards in a 45° direction, allowing the LogiCursor to track along this angle. When the angle is tracking correctly, the angle is shown as ‘along 45‘ , shown below.

Draw an arc in an anti-clockwise direction until the end of the arc aligns to the start point of the arc, shown below.

Left click to define the end point of the arc, then use the keyboard TAB key to access the edit fields and input 65 into the Radius field.

The result is shown below.

Center Point Circle

Use the Center Point Circle tool to position a new circle on the quadrant of the newly inserted arc, shown below.

TAB to the Diameter field and input 10.

Repeat this, creating a new circle concentric to the newly inserted circle. Make this diameter 30, shown below.
