Offsetting a Face

In this Task

  • The solid editing modification tool Offset Face will be used to offset the top face of Part 2.

Before you Start

  • The model should be viewed from an Isometric or Trimetric viewpoint.

Take Note

  • Multiple components can be more easily viewed using the Transparency option. Position the cursor over the part and right click to enable or disable Transparency.

Solid Face Editing

Modify | Solid Direct Edit
This facility allows the various faces and surfaces of solid objects to be modified.
More than one face can be selected for modification, such as when offsetting a specific face of a solid.

Offset Face

Modify | Solid Direct Edit | Offset Face
This solid modification tool extends or shortens a face of a solid to a specified distance.
Planar and curved faces can be offset in either a positive (adds material) or negative (subtracts material) direction.

Select the Offset Face tool from the toolbar or use Modify > Solid Direct Edit > Offset Face. TAB to the Offset field and input 20.

Select the top face shown as shown below.

 

The newly offset face will extend the height of the part by 20, shown below.
