In this Task

  • The Workplane will be offset by -3
  • The newly inserted circles will then be projected onto the offset Workplane.

Associated Tasks

  • Using Wireframe display mode.

Before you Start

  • The view is set to Isometric.
  • The Workplane is seated on the bottom quadrant of the profile.

Take Note

  • The Workplane can only be offset in a parallel plane to its current position.

 

 

Workplane Offset

Workplane | Offset
This Workplane tool allows the current Workplane to be offset from its current position by a positive or negative value.

From the Workplane menu select Offset.

Input -3 into the Offset field, shown below.

Click OK, then view the design from the Left Side or Front view to check the new location of the Workplane, shown below.

Project Curve to Plane

Modify | Surface Utilities | Project Curve to Plane
This surface utility tool projects curves drawn on a parallel plane directly onto the plane occupied by the Workplane.
If objects lie in a non-parallel plane to the Workplane, they will be rotated to create alignment to the Workplane.

In this task, the circles which were drawn on the previous workplane will be projected onto the currently offset workplane.

Select Project Curve to Plane from the toolbar or use Modify | Surface Utilities | Project Curve to Plane. Make sure the Workplane option is selected.

Hold down the SHIFT key and select both circles.

At the prompt > specific a point in projection plane, select a position below the current circles, shown below.

The circles (curves) will project onto the offset workplane, shown below. Always view the model from different views after project curves to the Workplane, similar to the views shown below.
