Orthographic Views

View

Standard orthographic views are views which present the Top/Bottom, Front/Back and Side views. Below is an example of an assembly shown from Top view.

Isometric View

View | Isometric View

When viewing a 3D solid in isometric view, the x-y axis is rotated and the z axis appears perpendicular to the Workplane. The faces and edges on each axis will be parallel to each other.

Right click in the editor and select View > Isometric.

Rotate View

View | Rotate View

This view rotates the view so that the opposite side is visible. In the example below, the original object, shown below left is rotated to produce the opposite view on the right.

Flip View

View | Flip View

This view inverts the view when in Orthographic or Isometric Views. In the example below, the image on the left is shown in Top view. It is flipped to show the bottom view, shown below right.

Dynamic Rotate

Right click | Dynamic Rotate

This visual tool revolves the sketch or model by moving the view about a default axis.

A new locus for the view can be created using the ALT keyboard key.

By double-clicking onto the Dynamic Rotate tool, the view will rotate continuously. The rotating motion can be stopped by left-clicking the editor.

In the example below, the solid is being rotated about a point indicated by the arrow. The colors of the rotation handle relate to the colors of the axis, shown to the left of the object.

Dynamic Rotate (continual)

The Dynamic Rotate tool can be used to perpetually rotate the view of the model around an axis until a convenient view is found.

Double click onto the auto spin tool shown above. Press and hold the spacebar or left click in the editor to pause a view. Right click and select a standard view to return to previous views.

Zoom & Pan Tools

View

Zoom tools such as zoom in and zoom out can be found in the toolbar. The mouse wheel can also be used to increase or decrease the on-screen magnification. They keyboard directional arrow keys can also be used to nudge the image by increments. Larger nudge increments can be set using the Preferences menu in the main TurboCAD Mac titlebar. The directional arrow keys can only move the image laterally. To drag the on-screen image dynamically, the Pan tool is used.

The Pan tool is used to dynamically drag the image in the editor. This tool is found in the toolbar but the keyboard spacebar can be used to pan the image mid-command. Hold down the keyboard spacebar and slide the image when the hand symbol is shown, illustrated below.
