Drawing Modification

Use the Draw and Modification tools discussed and demonstrated in the previous task to complete the 2D sketch. In this example, the following additions and modifications were performed.

Parallel Lines

Draw > Line > Parallel

Creates a parallel line at a specified offset distance from an existing line.

The distance is input into the Offset field.

The newly created line is inserted onto the current layer.

The Parallel line tool is used to create offsets, shown below.

Trim

Modify | Trim | Trim

The Trim tool trims lines, arcs of circles to a defined boundary edge.

The keyboard SHIFT key is used to select multiple objects and can be used to add or remove objects to the selection.

The trim tool is used to trim the line segments shown below.

Select the Trim tool, then use a pick window to select the 2 inner vertical edges. Trim between the edges so the result is the same as below.

Extend

Modify | Trim | Extend | [Extend Dynamically]

This modification tool allows a line or arc to be shortened or extended in the same plane by dragging the pointing device to a suitable position.

A specific extension distance can be provided by selecting the Extend to Distance option.

The Extend tool is used to adjust the overall length of the center lines. Make sure the Extend option is set to Extend Dynamically.

Layer Properties

TurboCAD Explorer

The line properties of the hidden and center lines are changed. This is done by selecting the lines to change, then using the InspectorA context-sensitive attribute management utility that allows the currently selected object to be modified by changing its layer, color, linestyle etc. Also useful for setting a property before a new object is drawn. Always found in the upper right corner of the editor..
