Use the Show All option so that Parts 1 and 2 and the Fixing layer are visible in the editor, shown below. Part 3 can still be concealed.

Copy

Select one of the fixings and create a duplicate somewhere in the editor. Use the ALT keyboard key to create a duplicate, shown below.

Scale

Select the copied fixing and use Modify > Scale to increase the scale by 1.33 This will increase the diameter of the fixing from 12 to 16. (16/12 = 1.3333)

 

Mate Faces

Modify | Advanced Transform | Connection | Mate
This assembly tool aligns the planar faces of two solids so that they are both facing in opposite directions.

Use the Dynamic Rotate tool so that the underside of the fixing and the outer face of Part 2 are visible, similar to the illustration below.

Select the Connection > Mate tool and select the underside of the top face of the fixing, shown by the arrow below.

Select the outer face of Part 2, shown below.

The fixing will rotate so that is aligned to the outer face of Part 2, with the planar surfaces facing in opposite directions.

Next, select the fixing, then move it from the vertex shown below to the quadrant of the hole on the outer face of Part 2, shown below.

 

The result is shown below.

Mirror

Using a similar method to that described earlier in this task, mirror the bottom fixing to opposite side, using the quadrant point at the base of Part 1, shown by the arrow below. Perform this using Left Side view, below.

 

Linear Duplicate

Modify | Transform | Linear Duplicate
This duplication tool allows objects to be copied in a rectangular manner by specifying the distances between the objects on the horizontal and vertical axes.
The distance between the objects is referred to as the cell distance.
Objects which are duplicated along the horizontal axis are referred to as columns ; objects which are duplicated along the vertical axis are referred to as rows.

Select both of the fixings shown below.

Select the Linear Duplicate tool from the toolbar or use Modify > Transform > Linear Duplicate. Input the following information into the dialog box.

Offset Face

Modify | Solid Direct Edit | Offset Face
This solid modification tool extends or shortens a face of a solid to a specified distance.
Planar and curved faces can be offset in either a positive (adds material) or negative (subtracts material) direction.

Use the Offset Face to lengthen the shafts by 21, shown below.

Select the Offset Face tool, then input 21 into the edit field. Select the end face of the fixings in any order so that their length is increased to meet the threaded rod, shown below.

Use the Show All > Solids to view the entire assembly. Always examine the assembly from different viewpoints to check for positional accuracy.
