In this Task

  • The inner and outer edges of the solid will be blended.

Associated Tasks

  • Using Ambient Light settings.

Before you Start

  • The view is set to Isometric.
  • Part 1 is viewed in Transparency mode.

Take Note

  • The radius of blended edges can be a adjusted immediately after input.
  • Always view the solid from different viewpoints after an assembly.

 

Translate

Turn the view to Isometric, then select the part which was combined from Parts 2 and 3, shown below.

Select this part

 

Use the quadrant point on the smaller assembly as the ‘source’ point, then move the part to the corresponding quadrant, shown below.

The result is shown below. Always view the solid from different viewpoints to check the assembly.

Add Solid

Modify | Solid Booleans | Add Solid
This 3D boolean function combines the volume of 2 intersecting or adjoining 3D solids or surfaces.

Use the Add Solid tool used earlier in this Session to combine the volumes of the two parts, shown below.

Blend Edge

Modify | Solid Feature | Blend Edge
The Blend Edge tool is used to create a transitional radial surface by defining a radius and setback value.
Material is either added to, or subtracted from the volume of the solid depending of the radius and setback values.
This solid modification tool creates a transitional surface by adding a constant blend through one or more edges.

In this task, the top outer edges will be blended using a radius of 2. The inner radii will have a blend of 1.5

Select the Blend Edge tool from the toolbar or use Modify > Solid Feature > Blend Edge. Make sure the option is set to Constant Blend, Radial, then TAB to the Radius field and input 2.

Select all top outer edges, making the radius 2.

TAB to the Radius field and input 1.5 and blend all inner edges to this radius.

Ambient Light Settings

View | Ambient Light Settings

This visual display mode displays the color of light emitted and the intensity. Ambient light settings use a blend of Red, Green and Blue hues to create a screen through which the light is filtered.

In the example below, Ambient Light Settings have been set to Green using View > Ambient Light Settings. This creates a different color filter for the model, shown in the Cyan color above.

In the example below, the layer containing the sketch geometry was switched off using TurboCAD Explorer. The model was shaded using the settings options shown below. Use View > Shade Options to create your own visual display modes.
