How to Add a Curve

Estimated reading: 1 minute 31 views

The Curve tool in the Detail tab is used to draw freeform curved lines in your floor plan. Unlike the Arc or Circular Arc tools, this option allows you to create flexible, custom curves that are not limited to a fixed radius. It is useful for drafting irregular shapes, landscape outlines, decorative elements, or detailed design features that require smooth flowing lines.

To use the Curve tool, select the Detail tab and click the curve icon. Then click in the drawing area to define the start point and continue clicking to shape the curve according to the selected draw method. Holding the SHIFT key while drawing releases the angle constraint, and holding the CTRL key locks the segment angle for more controlled drafting.

Curves created with this tool are visible in the 2D view only. However, they can sometimes be converted into other components, such as edging or railing. The Curve tool is helpful for creating smooth, customized details and improving the overall presentation of your construction drawings.
