How to Add a Floor Drain

Estimated reading: 1 minute 32 views

The Floor Drain tool is used to add a drain opening on the floor so water can flow out properly.

A floor drain is commonly placed in areas where water may collect, such as bathrooms, laundry rooms, basements, or utility spaces. For example, in a bathroom, a floor drain helps remove excess water from the shower area. Adding it to your design ensures proper drainage planning.

To use the Floor Drain tool, go to the Plumbing tab in the main toolbar and select it. Then simply click on the floor in the drawing area where you want the drain to be placed. The drain will automatically be positioned on the floor of the current level. If needed, you can adjust its height using the Elevation bar, change its direction with the Rotate tool, or fine-tune its exact position by dragging it with your mouse or using the arrow keys for small, precise movements.

Checking the placement in the 3D view can help you confirm it looks correct.
