How to Add a Topography Line

Estimated reading: 1 minute 29 views

The Topography Line tool in the Terrain tab is used to create elevation changes in your landscape design. It allows you to draw contour shapes that raise or lower the ground surface.

This tool is helpful when designing sloped land, small hills, depressions, or graded areas around a building. It ensures that your project reflects realistic site conditions instead of a completely flat surface.

To use the Topography Line tool, select the Terrain tab and click the Topography Line icon. Then click in the drawing area to start placing points that define the shape of the terrain. Continue clicking to form the outline, and right-click to finish the shape. After placing it, go to the right- side panel and enter an Elevation value to raise or lower that specific area. A positive value raises the land, while a lower value creates a dip or slope.

Topography lines help improve the accuracy and realism of your site plan. By adding multiple shapes with different elevation values, you can gradually build smooth slopes and varied ground levels. This makes your landscape design clearer, more professional, and better suited for construction planning.
